JOB TITLE: Engineer, RF Systems
DESCRIPTION
The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for integration of new satellite programs into the Universal Space Network telemetry, tracking and control (TT&C) system. This support spans tasks from initial contract technical detail definitions, through the design and test of program requirements to the incorporation of the new satellite program supports into day-to-day operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support definition and project cost estimations of new program technical requirements. Lead design, development and integration efforts. Ensure validation of new program requirements into integrated system.
- Ensure the continued success of existing programs/customers utilizing USN's shared TT&C resources.
- Support modifications to existing hardware devices—from requirements definition, system integration and test through operational deployment.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
- Strong systems engineering hardware/software integration and test background
- Ability to produce Radio Frequency (RF) space to ground and ground to space link budgets
- Experience in development and validation of hardware/software requirements
- Familiarity with ground station/network equipment and protocols in satellite communication (RF modulation techniques, error coding, and standards)
- Excellent interpersonal skills coupled with a strong work ethic; ability to work autonomously in a dynamic work environment
- Periodic international and domestic travel for ground station technical support
- Experience in project management a plus
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 10 years in an RF engineering capacity, emphasis on hardware/software integration
- Working knowledge of satellite communications systems (RF and Baseband)
- A four-year degree in engineering or science (or equivalent)
